Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Position at Govt. Degree College Baramulla

Govt. Degree College Baramulla, a NAAC Re-Accredited Grade ‘A’ institution with the designation of College with Potential for Excellence, announces the availability of a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) role for the project titled “Investigating climatic and anthropogenic impact on the groundwater quality of shallow aquifers along the flood plains of River Jhelum, Kashmir Himalaya.” This position is initially for a period of one year and may be extended up to two additional years based on the JRF’s performance and the availability of funds. The project has received sanction from the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), DST, and is led by Principal Investigator Dr. Aasimah Tanveer from the Department of Water Management, alongside co-principal investigators Dr. Arshid Jehangir and Dr. Mohd. Muslim from the Department of Environmental Science at the University of Kashmir.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Essential qualification: PG in Environmental Science/Water Management
  • Desirable qualification: Candidates with experience in Groundwater / RS & GIS are preferred
  • NET: Mandatory clearance

Due to a poor response from eligible candidates, the college is reopening the application process. Candidates who applied in response to previous notifications are not required to reapply.

Additionally, applications with photocopies of relevant certificates/documents showcasing qualifications, marks percentage, age, experience, and any publications may also be mailed to gdcb.gw@gmail.com in PDF format by or before 27-05-2024.

Selection Criteria:

  • The selection will be on a merit basis, performance during the interview, and knowledge pertaining to the project.
  • TA/DA will not be provided for attending the interview.
  • The interview is primarily offline; however, online interviews can be accommodated under certain conditions upon candidate request and valid justification.
  • The selected candidate will be expected to work at Govt. Degree College Baramulla as well as at the University of Kashmir throughout the project duration.

Note: This position is temporary and co-terminus with the project duration.
